EU members approved five major defence projects which now become eligible for EU funding to enhance security. These projects include a focus on drone warfare and protective measures for Europe's Eastern flank. An integrated maritime defence project along with air and missile defence initiatives were also approved. Funding worth €325 million is allocated under the European Defence Industry Programme for these projects.
The EU Council reported that it had approved on Monday five European Defence Projects in the category of "general interest" of the European Union, designed to strengthen Europe's defence preparedness and industrial capabilities." These projects demonstrate practical cooperation among EU member States in their own security.
