Median: Tisza Is Rising, but There Is a Way

If parliamentary elections in Hungary had been held last Sunday, Prime Minister Péter Magyar's ruling Tisza party would have won 54 percent of the vote. In the April elections, Magyar's party won 53 percent of the vote, ending the 16-year rule of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán (Fidesz).
According to the latest survey by Median, support for the Tisza Party among certain party voters has decreased by 4 percentage points, while support for Fidesz has increased by the same amount since the institute's mid-summer research. The shift is now significant, but the difference between the two parties is still huge.
The recent surge in political interest seems to be waning. Public sentiment has deteriorated slightly, but 60 percent still believe things are going in the right direction.
The Tisza still accounts for 54 percent of the total population and Fidesz for 22 percent.
As soon as Median's latest data on party preferences was released, Péter Magyar commented almost immediately on the decrease in Tisza's support within the margin of error.
