Max Bredeson has quickly found a role on Vikings offense
Bredeson has earned early playing time by embracing contact and the dirty work, with coaches praising his quick start in the running game.
Rookie Max Bredeson is successfully transitioning into the Vikings' fullback role, replacing longtime veteran Ham. The fifth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft has prioritized "versatility and violence" to quickly secure his position.
Ham has served as a "great mentor" who helped Bredeson adapt immediately after being drafted. Drawing on his college experience at Michigan, Bredeson embraced the physical mentality required for the fullback position.
Head coach Kevin Connell praised the rookie's intensity, noting he "felt his pads popping at the point of attack." Offensive coordinator Wes Phillips added that Bredeson has "good hands" and strong route-running ability.
Bredeson has quickly carved out a significant role in the Vikings' revamped running game through his willingness to perform "dirty work." The rookie stated he is ready to do "whatever I need to do to help the team win."
The annual night practice is expected to draw roughly 6,000 fans on Sunday. While quarterback Kyler Murray struggled during Day 9 sessions at TCO Performance Center, rookie Caleb Banks continues making an immediate impact.
