MAGA dissidents plot after splitting from Trump on Iran
Kent said conservative critics need a coordinated message as MAGA dissidents split with Donald Trump over Iran policy.
Former National Counterterrorism chief Joe Kent met with media personality Tucker Carlson and other MAGA dissidents to strategize against the Republican Party's Iran war stance.
After resigning from the Trump administration, Kent has criticized the MAGA movement's pro-war direction, arguing the conflict contradicts core principles and undermines Trump's America First platform.
Working with Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., Kent is developing a coalition to organize political opposition, stating, "I was a part of that but trust me it's going to be different this time."
While organizing this coalition, Kent acknowledged facing a "credibility" problem after serving in the administration and warned the war could alienate voters supporting Trump.
The "Trump model" serves as Kent's vehicle to challenge the Republican Party establishment, though whether this dissident strategy effectively shifts foreign policy remains uncertain.
