LG has made the leap to a new generation of visual definition
With its FLiPP technology, LG promises OLED slabs that are brighter, more durable and less expensive to produce. From TV to VR headset, it changes the equation.
The production of OLED screens is going through a decisive technical course. Metal stencils are finally disappearing. This new optical process allows the design of much brighter panels, which consume less current on a daily basis. The overall lifetime almost doubles. It is an absolute boon to break industrial costs.
LG Display introduces FLiPP: The new OLED production without FMM is designed to improve brightness, service life and efficiency and allow for more flexible panel sizes.
LG Display unveiled a new manufacturing technology for OLED panels at the IMID 2026 conference in Busan. FLiPP replaces the Fine Metal Mask (FMM) previously used to structure the red, green, and blue subpixels with a photolithographic process. According to the display manufacturer, the technology can increase brightness by a factor of 1.6, extend lifespan by a factor of 2.4, and reduce power consumption by 13 percent. These improvements do not a…
Read the original note in the following link: LG Display presents its new FLiPP OLED screens with greater brightness and efficiency During the IMID 2026 event, LG Display presented a technology that promises an important advance in the manufacture of panels with its new FLiPP OLED screens. The key to this development is the removal of the fine metal mask (FMM), a component traditionally used as a template to deposit the organic materials red, gr…
