Leeds United transfer hint as Borussia Monchengladbach confirm big Nico Elvedi decision
Leeds have agreed a permanent deal worth up to £10 million for the 29-year-old Switzerland defender, according to The Athletic.
Leeds United are closing in on the permanent signing of Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi for a fee up to £10 million, with the 29-year-old notably omitted from today's matchday squad against Aston Villa.
Terms of a three-year contract were reportedly agreed with Elvedi earlier this week; the defender previously worked under manager Daniel Farke during his 11 years at Borussia Park.
Uncertainty regarding Sebastiaan Bornauw's future at Elland Road has influenced the pursuit, as Leeds have already signed Harry Wilson, James Trafford, and Tarik Muharemovic during this summer transfer window.
Elvedi brings extensive experience, having made 364 appearances for the German outfit, as The Whites prepare for their second season in the Premier League following their 2025 promotion.
The club begins their Premier League campaign on August 22 with an away trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest, subsequently hosting Brentford at Elland Road on August 30.
