Leaf collection begins Oct. 26; city considers flexibility for future start dates

Owensboro’s leaf collection season will begin Oct. 26 in Zone 4A, with three passes planned through the city and follow-up collections continuing through Feb. 15. Last season, the city collected 2,255,582 pounds of leaves, or approximately 1,128 tons. The city rotates its starting zone each year for fairness, Sanitation Manager Hunter Ragan said recently.
