Landsman, Conroy battle for Congress in southwest Ohio
Landsman proposes a tax credit for workers earning under $100,000, while Conroy backs lower middle-class taxes and small-business relief.
Rep. Greg Landsman, D-Ohio, faces Republican Eric Conroy in a tightening race for Ohio's 1st Congressional District, where candidates clash over tax policies and education funding.
Landsman introduced the Working Americans Affordability Tax Credit Act in September, proposing a maximum $4,200 monthly check funded by a minimum 20% tax on individuals making more than $100 million.
Financial disclosures show Landsman holds more than $4.6 million in contributions and $3.6 million in cash on hand, while Conroy has $1.5 million in contributions and more than $474,000 in cash.
Conroy missed Saturday's President Donald Trump rally in Dayton, citing a family obligation, as early in-person voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 6, and continues until the Sunday before Election Day.
Ohio's 1st Congressional District remains a focal point where high-profile matchups are expected to determine control of Congress, particularly given the district's 2025 redrawing that favors Republican challengers.
