Peter Gabriel Reveals Full Details, Release Date for New Album O/i
The 13-track album includes Bright-Side and Dark-Side mixes, plus a digital Dolby Atmos version shaped by Hans-Martin Buff.
- Peter Gabriel announced in January that his eleventh studio album, o/i, will release November 27 through Real World, completing a 25-track joint project with 2023's i/o and marking the shortest gap between his studio albums since the early 1980s.
- Gabriel spent the past year releasing one song with each full moon, exploring themes of nature, time, and technology; he has shared 10 of the 13 tracks so far, including Till Your Mind Is Shining, What Lies Ahead, and Been Undone.
- Each track features two stereo versions: Bright-Side mixes by Mark Spike Stent and Dark-Side mixes by Tchad Blake, except Who Are We Talking To? mixed by Mike Elizondo, with collaborators including David Rhodes, Tony Levin, Brian Eno, and Gabriel's daughter Melanie on vocals.
- Fans can pre-order o/i now in multiple formats: 4xCD packs with both mixes, 2xLP Bright-Side or Dark-Side editions, and a digital-only Dolby Atmos In-Side mix by Hans-Martin Buff, who won Best Immersive Mix Engineer at the Grammys for i/o.
- Gabriel explained the album explores humanity's place in nature, saying, "Trying to get a handle on where you fit in life, that's what I write about a lot," while reflecting that we are "a part of nature, a part of everything" and that connection helps us find our proper place.
