Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has clarified that the agreement on a new sea route with Oman does not signal the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that the map of the new route and details of the agreement will be shared at a meeting in Oman. According to Araghchi, opening the Strait of Hormuz will require the US to return to its commitments. He also called for local countries to be given responsibility for regional security.
Until these seven conditions, which have been agreed to by Iran's top officials, are met, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed.
