Ukraine’s procurement system for artillery ammunition poses additional risks to the timely delivery of long-range 155-mm shells to the Defense Forces. One of the key problems remains the excessively short terms of government contracts.
With national defense funding growing rapidly, the system for acquiring weapons and military equipment is unable to meet the needs of the army, the National Audit Office, which conducted the audit, reported on Friday.
After the National Audit Office (NAO) found that the share of failed purchases of weapons and military equipment has increased 2.5 times in two years, Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius says he is dissatisfied with the current pace of acquisitions and promises to monitor and control them at the level of the Government Chancellery.
The Ukrainian artillery procurement system poses additional risks to the timely delivery of 155-mm long-range shells to the Defence Force, a key problem which remains the very short duration of government contracts.
