Lithuania may tighten restrictions on Russian and Belarusian nationals, particularly those holding a residence permit in the country. There are proposals to ban them from purchasing property near military training grounds and other sites of national security importance.
In the new package of national sanctions prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is proposed that citizens of Russia and Belarus should be limited to acquiring real property and that they should not be allowed to buy objects near strategic infrastructure; the opposition says that this is a compromise, but the sanctions could be more stringent.
In Lithuania, a bill has been finalized that will prohibit Russians and Belarusians from buying property near military and strategic sites, writing a State LRT with reference to officials. Reference is made to a radius of 10 kilometres. The measure has been discussed for a long time. The first comments from the State on this matter have appeared in the summer. At the same time, it was proposed to start filtering cultural figures.
