Only between 2025 and 2026, there are 704 new dredges - rustic rafts that extract illegal gold - that have begun to operate in 13 rivers of the Loreto region, confirming the territorial expansion of illegal miners. According to satellite images taken by Conservation Amazonica-ACCA, the increase of dredges are recorded in the rivers Atacuari, Chambara, Cotuhe, Curaray, Marañón, Mazan, Nanay, Napo, Patayacu, Pintuyacu, Putumayo, Tigre and Yaguas.
