The pilot projects will be implemented in a relatively small number of municipalities, which already present good technological preparation and processes for this reality, said the Deputy Minister and State Reform, Gonçalo Matias, who spoke to journalists in Coimbra, one of the authorities that will integrate this first phase of tests.
Initially, construction licenses will be covered, followed by industrial and environmental licenses. The aim is to extend the use of AI to all municipalities by 2027, improving and simplifying public services.
The government will make progress this year with the implementation of pilot projects in some municipalities to test the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in urban licensing processes, taking advantage of the entry of the new legal regime.
