The Netherlands may get a direct ferry to Norway again starting in 2028. Plans are being made in Eemshaven, Groningen, for a new, larger quay. Around 80 million euros is being allocated for this.
The Eemshaven in Groningen can get a new, larger quay, making a direct ferry service to Norway possible again. The financing for the project has been secured, reports Nij Begun, the program for the social and economic recovery of Groningen following gas extraction. Nij Begun is allocating 36 million euros for this, and Groningen Seaports is paying the remaining 40 million euros.
In two years, a ferry will sail from Groningen to Arendal in Norway again. With millions of euros from Nij Begun, there is room to build a new quay.
