Minnie Merriman: Father returns to court over alleged murder of nine-year-old daughter
Christopher Rice did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody after a second appearance in the case, police said.
On Thursday, Christopher Rice, 35, of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court for a second time charged with the murder of his nine-year-old daughter, Minnie Merriman, and was remanded in custody.
Nine-Year-Old Minnie Merriman was found injured just after midnight on August 3 at the Elliot industrial estate in Arbroath, Angus, while her family camped in the area. She was transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she later died.
Police Scotland led the investigation with support from West Yorkshire Police, maintaining a presence at the scene for several days following the incident. Floral tributes were left at the location in Arbroath.
In a statement released through Police Scotland, Minnie's family described her as their "beloved, absolutely incredible, beautiful and brave Minnie Moo" and requested privacy during this difficult time.
Rice remains in custody following his private court hearing, though the date for his next appearance has not yet been confirmed. He did not enter a plea during Thursday's proceeding.
