Fall turns South Carolina’s Swamp Rabbit Trail from a shortcut into the whole reason to go
The 10-mile paved route is drawing riders for cooler weather, peak foliage and trailside food stops that make the trip worth the full ride.
This fall, the 10-mile Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail Network connects downtown Greenville to Travelers Rest, offering riders optimal conditions as temperatures cool and foliage turns vibrant.
The trail became the thread linking downtown Greenville's revival around Falls Park and the Reedy River to northern towns after textile manufacturing declined in the region.
A robust restaurant scene has emerged at both ends: Michelin-starred Scoundrel at 18 N. Main St. and Topsoil Kitchen & Market at 13 S. Main St. in Travelers Rest source seasonal menus from Upstate farms.
CNN Travel ranked Greenville among America's best towns to visit on July 1, citing parks and trails, while Season 23 of "Top Chef" featured a Quickfire Challenge on the trail earlier this year.
Supporting more than 300 local farmers, Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery at 205 Cedar Lane Rd. anchors the community's philosophy that built the trail's success year-round.
