Exobiosphere to Become the First Commercial Customer of Outpost's New Space Factories, Bringing Microgravity Drug Discovery to Orbit and Back
Exobiosphere will use Outpost’s CarryAll spacecraft to run its automated orbital lab, which can return payloads from 200 kilograms to 10 metric tons to Earth.
On Friday, Outpost Technologies Corporation announced Exobiosphere as the first customer for its newly unveiled Space Factories platform. The agreement enables the biotechnology firm to use standardized, reusable infrastructure for orbital drug discovery research.
Exobiosphere CEO Kyle Acierno said microgravity accelerates biology, yet research samples require reliable return to Earth for validation. This capability becomes critical as the International Space Station approaches its planned 2030 decommissioning.
Under the agreement, Exobiosphere will fly its Orbital High-Throughput System aboard Outpost's CarryAll spacecraft. The vehicle family is designed to host payloads ranging from 200 kilograms to 10 metric tons.
Biopharmaceutical firms are beginning to treat microgravity as ready for scale manufacturing, said Outpost CEO Jason Dunn. Repeatable access allows Exobiosphere to accelerate experimental cycles and advance promising findings toward practical therapeutics.
Reflecting rising demand for standardized orbital manufacturing, the booking precedes Outpost's planned 2028 orbital mission. Companies increasingly prioritize comprehensive logistics and return services rather than launch access alone.
