'Disturbing' stabbing of 8 horses on Ontario farm remains unsolved a year later
Police say eight horses suffered cuts or stab wounds and one died, and the case remains unsolved a year after the attack.
On Monday, the Niagara Regional Police Service renewed its appeal for information regarding an unsolved animal cruelty case involving multiple horses in Welland, Ont., one year after the attack occurred.
The incident occurred overnight between July 30 and July 31, 2025, at a boarding farm near Buchner Road and Highway 140, where staff discovered the injured animals during routine checks.
Eight horses suffered injuries "consistent with cuts or stab wounds," with one found dead at the scene while others received veterinary care, prompting police to call it a "disturbing" act.
Although detectives have been investigating since the discovery, the case remains unsolved, prompting the Niagara Regional Police Service to seek fresh public assistance one year later.
