Millions of South Africans will face higher medical aid costs in 2027, with Discovery announcing contribution increases from 1 January.

Discovery Health Medical Scheme (DHMS) will increase contributions by between 7.4% and 8.9% from 1 January 2027, with a weighted average increase of 8.2%. The increase follows a 7.2% weighted average increase in 2026 and 9.3% in 2025, putting the 2027 adjustment between the two.
