Delta jet ‘clipped’ Air Canada plane at LAX, no injuries reported
No injuries were reported, and the Air Canada jet will be inspected and repaired as the Federal Aviation Administration investigates.
On Tuesday, a Delta Airlines Airbus A350-900 clipped an Air Canada plane at Los Angeles International Airport while taxiing, as the Air Canada flight from Toronto was being towed to the gate.
Operating as Flight 7 to HND, the Delta aircraft struck the tail of Air Canada flight AC785 with its left wingtip, carrying 275 customers and 15 crew members.
No injuries were reported among passengers or crew, and the Air Canada aircraft will be taken out of service for inspection and repairs while crews assess the Delta jet.
A Delta spokesperson apologized for the delay, stating, "Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people," and confirmed the airline will cooperate with the NTSB on any investigation.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident as Delta works to accommodate customers and evaluate recovery options for the aircraft involved in the ground collision at Los Angeles International Airport.
