No Survivors Found at Crash Site of Downed Aircraft in Boulder County, Deputies Say
Crews are using ground, drone and helicopter teams after a U.S. Air Force Rescue Coordination Center alert for a possible crash.
On Monday morning, authorities located a single-engine plane crash site south of Boulder, where two individuals were found dead following an intensive search that began Sunday night near Eldorado Springs.
The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center issued a 9:42 p.m. alert Sunday night regarding a missing aircraft, triggering immediate deployment of rescue crews to the region.
About 30 crews searched rugged terrain south of the City of Boulder using drones and aerial support. Sheriff's Office spokesman Vinnie Montez urged the public not to fly drones in the area to avoid interfering with operations.
Rescuers confirmed two individuals were located deceased with no survivors found at the site north of Eldorado Canyon State Park. Authorities are withholding victim names pending positive identification and family notification.
The National Transportation Safety Board is en route and expected to arrive Tuesday to lead the crash investigation. The Boulder County Coroner's Office is conducting an independent inquiry to determine the cause and manner of death.
