Since 2018, a secret agreement regulates the cooperation of the State and the Church in the appointment of new Catholic bishops in China. Now it has been used again. Paul Liu Honggang was ordained bishop on the same day.
Father Paolo Liu Honggang was ordained Bishop of Datong in another episcopal appointment under the interim agreement between the Vatican and China renewed until 2028.
