The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) announced that they have shot down a small unmanned suicide drone in the Fizi highlands. The drone was shot down on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in the Ruyengo area, Fizi Territory, South Kivu, according to the Congolese military. The drone, which the FARDC says belonged to AFC/M23 fighters and allied Twirwaneho/Red-Tabara groups, was shot down at around 8:00 a.m.
