Strong Film Slate, FIFA Screenings Help Boost Cineplex's Q2 Results
Cineplex said attendance rose 9.3% as record per-patron spending and a stronger film slate lifted adjusted free cash flow 41.2%.
On Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, Cineplex Inc. reported record Second Quarter revenues of $383.7 million, with net income of $7.8 million compared to a $2.2 million loss a year earlier.
Welcoming 12.7 million guests, an increase of 9.3% from 11.6 million, Cineplex generated record theatre food service revenues of $132.5 million, up 11.7% from the prior year.
Expanding its footprint, the company opened Playdium Vaughan, its 17th Location-Based Entertainment venue, in Vaughan, Ontario, during the Second Quarter. Scene+ loyalty program membership surpassed 15 million members.
Box office revenues reached $176.2 million, with Cineplex capturing over 80% of North American box office for select Punjabi films. Box office revenue per patron rose to $13.91.
Management expects sustainable growth through 2027, citing a robust content pipeline and improving industry fundamentals. Adjusted free cash flow reached $23.8 million, supporting continued strategic investments.
