China Shuts 7.2K Livestream Rooms in Crackdown
China's top internet regulator announced a crackdown on over 7,200 livestream rooms for improper activities like spreading vulgar content and violating children's rights.
More than 2,200 of these livestream rooms were severely penalized during the campaign launched in July by the Cyberspace Administration of China.
The campaign resulted in the removal of several multi-channel network agencies from online platforms due to serious violations.
The administration pledged to continue supervising platforms to clean up the online environment and protect minors.
