MICHIGAN CITY, IN — A child drowned in Lake Michigan near Michigan City after emergency crews were called to a reported water rescue Monday afternoon. Police said the incident happened near the Beachwalk area off Lake Shore and Shawmut Drive. First responders said they were alerted at about 1:50 p.m. to a person struggling in the water.
