RCMP Arrest 3 Teens After Moncton Car-Surfing Video and Stolen Vehicle
Police say the three youths are also suspected in break-ins and thefts from businesses and residences.
RCMP arrested three teenagers in Moncton, New Brunswick, on Sunday following multiple reports of "car surfing" on Vaughan Harvey Boulevard, where a social media video showed a boy sitting on a moving vehicle's roof.
Mounties say the three youth are also suspected of committing several break-ins and thefts from businesses and residences, with the vehicle involved in the car surfing incident reported stolen prior to their arrests.
Police confirmed the arrest of a 16-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, and a 14-year-old boy, linking the trio to the stolen car and the series of alleged crimes throughout the area.
Pamela Fuselli, CEO of injury prevention charity Parachute, warned that car surfing is "very very dangerous and fatal in some cases," expressing concern about potential social media copycats.
Fuselli added that she hopes this incident is not a resurgence of dangerous challenges taken up through social media, emphasizing the importance of preventing copycat behavior for public safety.
Three young people aged 16 and under from Moncton were arrested as a result of dangerous driving incidents and a series of burglary flights in southeastern New Brunswick.
