Republican Jadon MacCormack, who made headlines earlier this year when he called for the execution of LGBTQ people, said the Salem witch trials were morally justified to counter the threat of witches and accused Catholics and Jews of worshipping the devil, among other inflammatory remarks and social media posts, lost his primary to former Pomfret First Selectman Anthony Emilio Tuesday. MacCormack was the party-endorsed candidate.
