MP1st shared early footage from a former developer portfolio showing a looter-shooter style game with a Mandalorian and a Twi'lek Jedi.
- On August 16, leaked footage surfaced showing Star Wars Magellan, a cancelled multiplayer action RPG developed by Echtra Games. The video demonstrates third-person gameplay featuring a Jedi and a Mandalorian-like soldier fighting Stormtroopers, with the footage describing the style as "shoot and loot."
- Development on Magellan began in 2021 following Echtra's acquisition by Zynga. A strategic realignment within Zynga and parent company Take-Two Interactive led to the project's cancellation and Echtra's closure in 2025.
- Players would have utilized unique character classes, such as Jedi or Mandalorian-like soldiers, while exploring with others. The project targeted PS5 and Xbox using Unreal Engine and included an NPC bonding system.
- This title joins a long list of cancelled Star Wars projects, including Project Ragtag, the cancelled 1313, and a Mandalorian shooter. The franchise remains active with upcoming releases like Star Wars Zero Company.
- Multiple Star Wars titles remain slated for release this year, including Galactic Racer in October. Despite the Magellan cancellation, the franchise continues to see significant investment from developers.
