Canada’s Memorable Year in Space Set to Continue with NASA’s SpaceX Crew 13 Mission
The four-person crew will spend about 6 months on research and station operations, and the mission could reach the ISS in under 9 hours, NASA said.
- NASA and SpaceX are targeting an 11:10 a.m. launch for the Crew-13 mission. The spacecraft will carry the crew to the International Space Station for the upcoming flight.
- To reduce health risks before the flight, the crew completed mandatory quarantine at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. These preflight protocols ensure the astronauts remain healthy as they prepare.
- Jessica Watkins serves as commander, with Luke Delaney as pilot. Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov serve as mission specialists for the upcoming flight operations.
- Following launch, the Dragon spacecraft will navigate to the orbital laboratory for docking at the Harmony module. The crew will then join Expedition 75 to begin their six-month mission.
- Astronauts will conduct scientific research on human responses to microgravity, including blood flow and vision changes. This data helps improve research efforts back on Earth.
