Astronauts arrive at International Space Station on the quickest US express flight yet
- On Thursday, SpaceX's Crew-13 docked with the International Space Station at 7:05 p.m. EDT, completing the journey in 7 hours and 55 minutes—the fastest launch-to-docking transit for any U.S. spacecraft.
- The record-breaking transit followed a three-week delay to repair a leaking fuel system on the Dragon capsule; mission planners attributed the swift arrival to the station's optimal orbital position at launch.
- Commander Jessica Watkins, the first Black woman to lead a crew to orbit, joins pilot Luke Delaney, Russian cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov, and Canadian astronaut Joshua Kutryk for their six-month mission.
- The arrival of the new crew marks the end of an eight-month stay for Crew-12 astronauts, who are scheduled to return to Earth next week, maintaining continuous staffing of the station.
- Industry Minister Mélanie Joly met with NASA administrator Jared Isaacman on Thursday to discuss lunar base collaboration, framing the launch as a symbol of cooperation during "tense geopolitical times.
