Several bus drivers in Skaraborg called in sick in protest against the Sweden Democrats' election advertising on local transport. Now Västtrafik has taken down the signs. "Unacceptable", according to SD.
The municipal union states that bus drivers contacted their safety representatives after the SD advertisement was put up on the buses.
Västtrafik's decision to take down SD advertising is being criticized as "censorship" and "election sabotage" by party members. Experts disagree. "It's not something that should be easily thrown out as an accusation," says Kajsa Falasca, associate professor of media and communication studies.
The transport company believes that it has been a "difficult balancing act", but prioritized the safety of the drivers.
