Bosnia and Herzegovina, more than three decades after the end of the war, has around 756 square kilometers of mine-suspected area, while the number of people trained in mine action has almost halved compared to the period before the coronavirus pandemic.
The new plan for the period 2027-2032 envisages returning around 55 square kilometres per year to safe use. However, BHMAC estimates that, with stable financing that would be provided by the new law, the annual capacity could increase to 75 to 80 square kilometres.
