Charges Dropped Against Bondi Attack Hero Over Alleged Assault
Police withdrew domestic violence charges after Ahmed al Ahmed agreed to a 12-month apprehended violence order without admissions.
On Wednesday, police dropped all domestic violence charges against Bondi hero Ahmed at Bankstown Local Court, where he had previously pleaded not guilty to assault and intimidation allegations.
Prosecutors withdrew the charges after Ahmed agreed to a 12-month AVO without admissions, following a retracted statement from his father, Mohammad Fadeh.
Defence lawyer Mohamed Sakr described the dropped charges as "a great outcome for all," while Ahmed stated his focus remains on recovering from injuries sustained during the Bondi Beach shooting.
Ahmed's brothers, Hozifa and Sameh, remain before the courts charged with extortion; they allegedly attempted to extort $200,000 from the 44-year-old and are prohibited from approaching him.
Widely hailed as a hero by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for his actions during the December terror attack, Ahmed continues treatment for his injuries, while a fundraiser raised $2.6 million.
