Billionaire Beyonce Is Selling an Empty Wood Box for $948 in Honor of ‘B’Day’ 20th Anniversary
The handcrafted wooden crate is limited to 500 numbered pieces and is priced at $948.01, a nod to Beyoncé’s birth date, the company said.
On Friday, September 4, Beyoncé launched limited-edition merchandise celebrating her 45th birthday and the 20th anniversary of her second album, B'Day, including the Bey Keeper Collector's Box priced at nearly $1,000.
Beyoncé priced the box at $948.01 as a nod to her birth date, September 4, 1981; only 500 numbered pieces are available, each described as 'an essential piece of art for the Hive.'
The 18-by-14-inch crate is handcrafted from solid pine wood, lined in deep green velvet with an engraved bee on the lid, though the description cautions that albums are not included.
Fans took to Instagram to troll Beyoncé over the high price, with one user commenting, 'For that price I need you to pop out the box and perform.'
Beyond the collector's box, Beyoncé's shop sells B'Day-inspired T-shirts, hoodies, tracksuits, and a $40 candle, while a 31-track deluxe album edition features rare bonus songs and collaborations with Maluma and the late Selena.
