Recall of Bettergoods Pasta Sold at Walmart Expands Due to Listeria Risk
The recall now covers every lot code after routine state sampling found possible Listeria contamination, while no illnesses have been reported.
- On Oct. 1, Gias Foods expanded its recall of Bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine to include all lot codes, broadening the scope from the two lots initially identified on Sept. 15.
- Routine testing by the Washington Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services first detected Listeria in finished products, prompting the initial Sept. 15 recall of two specific lots.
- Customers can identify the 22-ounce yellow bags by UPC 194346442706, while the Food and Drug Administration classified the initial recall as its most serious category on Sept. 25.
- While no illnesses have been reported to date, consumers should not eat the recalled pasta and can return affected packages to the place of purchase for a full refund.
- Freezing does not eliminate Listeria, and symptoms may appear up to 10 weeks after consumption, posing particular risk to pregnant people, newborns, and adults 65 and older.
