Beau Lamarre-Condon Asked Police Investigator About Murder of Lilie James Day Before Shootings, Court Hears
Jurors heard muffled Triple Zero audio as the defence argued the killings followed two separate struggles over Lamarre-Condon’s police pistol.
On Friday, jurors in the trial of former New South Wales police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon heard a muffled Triple Zero call placed from the phone of Luke Davies. The Crown alleges Davies was shot while calling for help.
Prosecutors allege Lamarre-Condon murdered Jesse Baird and partner Davies on February 19, 2024, driven by jealous infatuation. The accused has pleaded not guilty, claiming the men died during separate struggles involving his police-issued firearm.
Former police officer Ben Higginson testified Friday that Lamarre-Condon asked "concerning" questions about investigating the murder of Lilie James by Paul Thijssen. Higginson recalled the accused thought Thijssen was "stupid" for committing the crime on CCTV.
Senior Constable Alexandra Scobie testified Thursday that she excused herself from the initial investigation due to a "direct conflict of interest." She recalled "weird" conversations where Lamarre-Condon probed her about tracking hire cars and phone records.
The murder trial is scheduled to run for 12 weeks in the NSW Supreme Court as proceedings continue under Justice Natalie Adams. Jurors have viewed forensic evidence including bloodstained items recovered from a Cronulla bowls club.
