Anthropic report points to Iran-backed Houthis using Claude to develop missiles
According to Anthropic's findings in the report, the Iran-aligned Houthis used Claude Code to try and develop software for several weapons programmes, including a guided rocket, a ballistic missile and a missile family with a hypersonic glide vehicle variant.
Anthropic says it has thwarted multiple attempts to misuse its artificial intelligence models, including for activities related to weapons design, missile guidance, cyber espionage and surveillance. The company warns that AI is increasingly being used to directly execute dangerous operations, with humans in some cases limited to supervising them, according to Reuters.
