Analyst: Poland Eyeing Dozen A400M Aircraft via EU Funding

- Poland currently lacks dedicated aerial refueling aircraft, a capability Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said is essential for operating its new F-35 fighter jets, building on the long-running Karkonosze program.
- Financed through the European Union's SAFE loan program, the acquisition allows Poland to receive four aircraft by 2030, with the seven-unit order split between Spain and Poland.
- Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on social media Wednesday that the next step involves signing the final contract, and the framework agreement will remain in force for seven years once formally concluded.
- Separately, Poland is negotiating the acquisition of Airbus A400M transport aircraft, with Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Zalewski confirming in August that Warsaw is exploring both transport and refueling variants.
