Iran secured another wrestling gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games as Alireza Abdevali defeated Japan’s Olympic champion Nao Kusaka 5-3 in the men’s Greco-Roman 77kg final.
Alireza Abdovali, the Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler, won the gold medal in the 77 kg weight category in the finals after losing to his Japanese opponent.
The medal ceremony for the 77-kilogram Greco-Roman wrestling event at the Nagoya Asian Games was held, and Alireza Abdoli stood on the first podium after defeating Olympic champion Nao Kosaka from Japan and receiving his gold medal. Abdoli's gold medal was Iran's second Greco-Roman wrestling gold in these competitions and the 12th gold medal for the Iranian contingent at the Nagoya Asian Games.
