- On Wednesday, NSW Premier Chris Minns announced a $1.74 billion investment in regional road upgrades under the Regional Corridors Upgrade Program, targeting safety and efficiency improvements across three key freight corridors.
- The Albanese government will contribute $674 million, while the NSW Government provides $610 million; projects will be accelerated under Project Swift, which removes unnecessary processes and reduces duplication.
- Allocations include $520.8 million for the Newcastle to Dubbo corridor, $849 million for Muswellbrook to Armidale, and $375 million for the Euston to Tocumwal route across regional NSW.
- Premier Minns stated, "This investment will make roads safer for local families, improve travel times and make it easier for businesses," while Roads Minister Jenny Aitchison emphasized wider roads support better productivity.
- More than 1,000 jobs will be supported across the state, while upgrades include new rest stops and heavy vehicle facilities ensuring agricultural, mining, and freight supply chains remain connected.
