Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced a new era for drinking milk. The fat classification of milk will change, and the percentage of fat indicated on labels will no longer be shown. Milk will generally be divided into four categories.
Significant changes have been made to drinking milk. According to Minister Yumaklı's statement, the intermediate fat classifications such as "percentage of fat" have been removed. Furthermore, in milk with added sugar, glucose and fructose syrups, other than sucrose, are now prohibited.
Many rules have changed, from the classification of fats in drinking milk to the use of sugar. The new regulation eliminated intermediate fat ratios, while an upper limit was imposed on the amount of added sugar and total sugar. The term “natural” can only be used in certain milks. Businesses have been granted a period of compliance until March 31, 2027.
