Meta's Petal cable is the latest of more than 20 subsea projects the company has bet on as its AI push demands ever more data capacity.
Meta announced Petal, an underwater cable that will connect the United States and France and, according to the company, will be able to transport one petabit of data per second. The project is part of a global infrastructure expansion that also includes Waterworth and 2Africa, while the demand for capacity for artificial intelligence products grows.
