7-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Williamstown Vehicle Crash
Authorities said the 7-year-old was wearing a helmet and the driver was not impaired as investigators review the crash.
On Friday, August 7, a 7-year-old bicyclist died after colliding with a vehicle at the intersection of Main Street and Buxton Hill Road in Williamstown, Massachusetts, according to the Berkshire District Attorney's office.
Preliminary findings indicate the child "unintentionally entered" Main Street while traveling down Buxton Hill Road toward the intersection. The bicyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision but died at the scene.
Investigators determined the vehicle's driver was "not impaired by alcohol or drugs." Multiple agencies, including the Williamstown Police Department and Berkshire State Police Detective Unit, are conducting the ongoing investigation.
The Berkshire District Attorney confirmed no arrests have been made and no charges filed in connection with the incident. Berkshire District Attorney Timothy Shugrue urged the public to "respect the family's wishes for privacy during this impossibly difficult situation."
This fatality follows a crash last month involving Boston city worker and bike enthusiast Louisa Grace Gag, who was killed by an 18-wheeler recycling truck. The investigation into the Williamstown incident remains active.
