New Party Will Include Five Former B.C. Conservative Legislators
The fledgling party will elect a permanent leader before the legislature returns, after nine MLAs left the B.C. Conservatives in a month.
- On Friday, Prince George-Valemount MLA Rosalyn Bird, Abbotsford South MLA Bruce Banman, and Chilliwack-Cultus Lake MLA Warbus joined Kamloops Centre MLA Peter Milobar and Delta South MLA Ian Paton to form a new political party, growing the group to five members.
- All five MLAs cited problems with new Conservative Party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay, part of a larger exodus of nine party members over the past month following Milobar's departure on Aug. 14.
