Prosecutors have recommended 17 and a half years in prison for 41-year-old Ayham A. From Arkel, Zuid-Holland, for his alleged prominent role in the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS) in his native Syria. The prosecution says A. served as ISIS' security chief in southern Damascus between 2013 and 2018. In that role, they allege, he was closely involved in the group’s violent campaign of terror.

On Wednesday, the Public Prosecution Service demanded a 17.5-year prison sentence against 41-year-old Ayham A. from Arkel, South Holland, for his prominent role in the terrorist organization IS in his homeland of Syria.
The Public Prosecution Service is demanding 17.5 years in prison for A. (41), the alleged security chief of Islamic State who was taken from his bed in quiet Arkel three years ago. According to the prosecution, the father of two played an important leadership role in IS atrocities in Syria. "It may take some getting used to for him, but this is how it works in a criminal case."
The suspect himself denies it. But according to the Public Prosecution Service, there is sufficient evidence that a 41-year-old man from Arkel played a prominent role in the IS reign of terror in Syria between 2014 and 2018. He should therefore be sentenced to 17.5 years in prison.
