Zuckerberg Takes a Swing at Vision Pro with $1,299 Glasses
Meta unveiled new VR glasses featuring a magnesium alloy frame and pocket-bound compute puck at its Connect event on September 23, priced at $1,299 for a "Spring 2027" launch.
Separating compute components into a pocket-worn puck allows the glasses to weigh 3.5 ounces, making them five times lighter than the Meta Quest 3 and addressing bulk complaints.
Users interact with on-screen content through hand gestures and eye tracking on 5K micro-OLED displays, with the system supporting more than 75 games playable through gestures alone at launch.
Priced at $1,299, the device positions Meta between high-end rivals like the Apple Vision Pro and affordable alternatives, targeting market share where competitors struggled with premium pricing.
Expanding its wearable ecosystem, Meta also announced the third-generation Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 and the Muse Charm keychain, enabling AI interaction without requiring a phone.
Meta has unveiled VR glasses weighing 100g and priced at $1,299. This product maximizes wearing comfort by separating the computing unit externally, demonstrating Meta's technological superiority in contrast to Apple's Vision Pro, which discontinued a similar design after reviewing it.
