Zhou Liyuan, the 71-year-old former secretary-general of the Liaoning Provincial Government, was investigated eight years after his retirement. Zhou had previously served as the chief steward for then-Liaoning governors Li Xi and Chen Qiufa. Li Xi is currently a member of the Politburo Standing Committee and Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. Chen Qiufa came from the Chinese aerospace and military industry system.
