Zach Bauchou has career-low 62 and leads in Utah
Bauchou’s 62 included birdies on his last two holes as the average score fell to 68, giving him his first PGA Tour 18-hole lead.
On Thursday, Zach Bauchou shot a career-best 9-under 62 at the Bank of Utah Championship, securing his first 18-hole lead on the PGA Tour with a one-shot advantage at the Black Desert Resort.
Low scoring defined the opening day in Utah, where the average score hovered around 68 on a beautiful day, forcing Bauchou to work hard to stay ahead of the field.
Presidents Cup teammates Nick Taylor and Christiaan Bezuidenhout both finished at 64; Taylor, who played at Medinah last week, capped his round with a 50-foot eagle putt.
Jordan Smith of England reached 63 with a spectacular 238-yard albatross, while defending champion Michael Brennan opened with a 64 alongside Kevin Streelman and Nick Dunlap.
Players compete during the FedEx Cup Fall, where only the top 100 retain full cards for 2027, as Sudarshan Yellamaraju of Canada was the first of nine players to post a 63.
